LegalTerms & Conditions

The terms for using MyImpactStyle.

MyImpactStyle is a free, anonymous self-assessment and research instrument operated by Better Impact Inc. By using it, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Notice.

Plain-language note: this page explains the rules of using the site and your rights over your data. If anything is unclear, email privacy@betterimpact.com.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using MyImpactStyle (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) and the Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The service

The Service is an anonymous, educational volunteer-style assessment and a research instrument. It is provided for personal reflection, organizational development, and aggregate research.

It is not professional advice. Results are not psychological, medical, clinical, legal, financial, or employment advice, and must not be used as a substitute for professional judgment or as the sole basis for any hiring, placement, or personnel decision.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using it, you confirm that you meet this requirement. The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 16 has submitted data, contact us and we will delete it.

4. Anonymous participation and your consent

Participation is voluntary. Before the quiz begins, you are asked to confirm your age, agree to these Terms and the Privacy Notice, and consent to your anonymous responses being stored and used for aggregate research. We record the version and timestamp of your consent so it is demonstrable.

You may withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your responses (see Your data rights). Withdrawal does not affect aggregate statistics already computed, which contain no information that identifies you.

5. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

  • scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Service;
  • use automated tools to submit quiz responses at volume;
  • reverse-engineer, probe, or attempt to de-anonymize the dataset or other respondents;
  • disrupt, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service; or
  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

6. Intellectual property

The quiz content, the six style profiles, the scoring methodology, and all associated written material are the intellectual property of Better Impact Inc. You may share your own personal result for non-commercial purposes with attribution. All other rights are reserved.

7. Your data rights

We collect no name, email, address, or other direct identifier. We store your quiz answers, your computed scores, an optional demographics block you choose to complete, and a one-way hashed IP and user-agent used only for abuse prevention (purged within 30 days). We never sell or share your information, and we use no advertising or third-party tracking. You can permanently delete your responses at any time at /delete. The sections below summarize rights specific to your region.

European Union & United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Our lawful basis for processing your responses is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). You have the right to access, rectify, erase (Art. 17), restrict, and object to processing of your data; the right to data portability; and the right to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office). Your data is hosted in the United States; because the dataset is anonymous and minimized, the transfer risk is low, and we rely on appropriate safeguards and data-minimization to protect it.

United States (California & other states)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and comparable laws in states including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah, you have the right to know what we hold, to delete it, and to correct it, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share your personal information and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Exercise deletion at /delete.

Canada (PIPEDA & Québec Law 25)

We collect and use information only with your consent and only for the purposes described here and in the Privacy Notice. You may access your information, withdraw consent, and ask questions of our privacy contact. Residents of Québec have additional rights under Law 25.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Better Impact is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any decision made on the basis of quiz results.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including certain rights you may have as a consumer under UK, EU, Canadian, or US law.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes are reflected in the Last Updated date below, and the consent version recorded at quiz start is bumped accordingly. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Better Impact Inc. maintains its home office in North Carolina, USA, and a Canadian Head Office in Ontario, Canada. Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country or state of residence.

11. Contact
